Welcome to the Annual AFE/ Alberta Foodservice Industry Awards Nominations page!

The Alberta Foodservice Industry Awards are presented by Canadian Restaurant & Foodservice News magazine and ApEx. The awards honour the achievements, leadership and contributions of individuals and organizations working within Alberta’s foodservice industry.

The award winners will be recognized at the 2013 AFE/Alberta Foodservice Industry Cocktail Reception and Award Celebration.

The Alberta Foodservice Industry Awards program relies upon individuals from within the industry to recognize their deserving colleagues. We encourage you to submit your nomination today by following the instructions at the bottom of this page. Awards in five categories will be presented:

1.) Chef of the Year

The Chef of the Year Award recognizes an outstanding individual who owns or is currently employed in a full-service dining facility. This person has demonstrated the highest standard of culinary skills, showing a flair for cooking which clearly distinguishes them from their contemporaries. The winner will be someone whose hard work, professionalism and dedication are above the norm and who supports the development of the profession for the benefit of the industry as a whole.

Nomination for the Chef of the Year Award is open to all chefs over the age of 25 who have been working as a chef for at least five years. Eligible candidates may be from any kind of dining establishment, including restaurants, hotels, pubs, universities, contract caterers and institutional facilities.

2.) Junior Chef of the Year

The Junior Chef of the Year Award recognizes an up-and coming student or apprentice who possesses a high degree of professionalism, culinary skill and passion for the culinary arts. The winner will be someone who displays an impressive talent and who is likely to make a significant impact on the industry in years to come.

Nomination for the Junior Chef of the Year Award is open to all students or apprentices under the age of 25. Eligible candidates may be from any kind of dining establishment, including restaurants, hotels, pubs, universities, contract caterers and institutional facilities.

3.) Server of the Year

The Server of the Year Award recognizes an individual who has consistently demonstrated their commitment to customer satisfaction, together with a desire to enhance the overall reputation of the foodservice establishment The winner will be someone who possesses a unique talent in food service and whose hard work and innovative ideas have enabled him/her to excel and stand out from their peers.

Nomination for the Server of the Year Award is open to individuals working in any kind of dining establishment, including restaurants, hotels, pubs, universities, contract caterers and institutional facilities.

4.) Supplier of the Year

The Supplier of the Year Award recognizes an individual or company in the foodservice industry who has consistently performed above and beyond the call of duty for their clients. The winner will be a person or organization that has excelled in providing unparalleled customer service, or a company that has developed a single product or line of products that has revolutionized the foodservice industry. This award recognizes an important aspect of the foodservice industry - our valued suppliers.

5.) Foodservice Establishment of the Year

The Foodservice Establishment of the Year Award recognizes a dining facility for its commitment to excellence in foodservice. The winning establishment will have demonstrated exceptional culinary skills, service and professionalism from all their staff, both in front and back of house. The winner will have shown the highest standards and quality and have an outstanding reputation for food and service.

Nomination for the Foodservice Establishment of the Year Award is open to any kind of dining establishment, including restaurants, hotels, pubs, universities, contract caterers and institutional facilities.

6.) Lifetime Achievement

The Lifetime Achievement Award is the ultimate accolade bestowed upon an individual within the foodservice industry. The recipient of this prestigious award will be an outstanding personality who has, over the course of their career, developed a celebrated reputation for exemplary service and demonstrated exceptional commitment to improving foodservice in Alberta.

Nomination for the Lifetime Achievement Award is open to individuals who have worked for a minimum of 25 years in any sector of the foodservice industry.

Nomination Deadline is Friday, September 20, 2013.
